At Harrisons we are proud of our strong independent female business owners every day of the year. But with International Women’s Day comes the opportunity to showcase just some of the amazing women in the Harrisons family.
Meet Gabby, Laura and Christina. While working in different parts of the country and Harrisons business, they all have one thing in common. These ladies love helping people to get the best out of their homes, all while being in charge of their own success.
Gabby Dippie, Harrisons Curtains and & Blinds Business Owner, Hawkes Bay
Gabby loves working in such a positive industry and helping people with the finishing touches to their homes. It’s really rewarding when “a client’s eyes light up on finding the perfect curtain or blind to complete their vision”. Currently building a new house, she is having trouble choosing a favourite fabric - there are too many to choose from!
When not working or spending time with her family, Gabby gets creative with pottery and says “the drawers are slowly filling up with slightly wonky bowls and mugs”. She also enjoys a good book, doing yoga and walking her mini Schnauzer Iggy!
We’re sure Gabby’s clients love her honest, trustworthy approach as much as we do!
Christina Gardener, Carpet & Flooring and Curtains & Blinds Business Owner, Christchurch
After years in the corporate world, it took a significant birthday with an ‘0’ in it for Christina to think about what she really wanted to be doing every day. With her interest in interior design and her love of meeting people and hearing their stories, the Harrisons business fitted perfectly.
Christina loves finding solutions for customers that “they may not have thought about”. The key to Christina’s success is being a really good listener. Offering both flooring and window treatments, she loves the moment that it “all comes together” and the customer is happy with the result.
Working alongside her husband in her business is really rewarding for Christina. She likes that they don’t have a defined 9-5 life/work routine “everything fits to make a whole life".
When not working Christina is an avid gardener at home on 20 acres in North Canterbury. She says “it’s a never-ending quest to stay on top of the weeds and to keep the rabbits out of my veggie patch, in particular the strawberries. So far this year its Rabbits 10 vs. Christina 0”
Christina is the perfect example of a strong independent women in the Harrisons family!
Laura Duncan, Harrisons Solar Business Owner, Hawkes Bay
Cruising around the Hawkes Bay in her Harrisons Solar Mini Cooper, visiting beautiful spots, and helping her customers achieve their financial and environmental goals are the best parts of Laura’s job. A self-described ‘hippie’ the Harrisons Solar business was the perfect fit for her. She says “I absolutely love running my own business which helps local families lower their monthly power bills while using a renewable energy source”.
Laura loves getting the thank you messages once her customers see the difference solar makes to their power bill. Last month she had a customer who was $3.40 in credit... so they had saved over $250 in one month. So rewarding!
One of the keys to Laura’s success is having fun with her customers – We love that!
