What is hybrid flooring?
Hybrid flooring is an advanced flooring option composed of a combination of different materials.
Hybrid flooring is named “Hybrid” because it combines the durability of Luxury Vinyl Planks (LVP) with the pleasing look and feel of laminate. It comes in a wide range of designs and styles whilst still being affordable and durable.
The components of hybrid flooring include:
- UV coating layer - a protective coating that gives tour floors bacteria and dirt resistance, as well as fighting the fading caused by harsh NZ sun;
- Wear layer - hard-wearing surface with scratch and wear-resistant qualities to make sure your flooring will survive even in the busiest traffic areas;
- Decorative layer - the print layer that realistically imitates hardwood or stone look;
- Core layer -100% waterproof composite layer that allows your new floors to feel solid and withstand rapid temperature changes;
- Pre-adhered underlay – pre-attached this bottom layer to enhance insulation and soundproofing properties.
Hybrid flooring advantages
Choosing hybrid flooring over other options has many advantages. Here are only some of the benefits.
It’s highly durable
Hybrid provides you the look and feel of natural timber without sacrificing durability. A transparent wear layer can withstand years of high foot traffic. If you have children or pets, it’s your to-go option as it is tough to rip, tear, or damage from dropping objects.
It’s 100% waterproof
Hybrid floors are 100% waterproof, making them the perfect choice for high-spill zones like bathrooms and kitchens.
It’s easy to maintain
A hybrid is an excellent option for a busy lifestyle. It needs a lot less attention than traditional hardwood or carpet floors. Just fairly regular vacuuming and a weekly wash will be enough. And you don’t need to worry about excess water; it’s waterproof.
It’s comfortable
Pre-adhered underlay offers soundproofing properties, provides better thermal insulation and higher comfort underfoot. That’s why we highly recommend them for kitchens over ceramic tiles – which are hard and cold.
It’s easy to install and repair
The installation of hybrid flooring is quick and easy (therefore usually cheaper!), thanks to the click-lock system. The individual planks are also removable, so purchase an extra pack. In the unlikely case of damage, you can simply take out a board and set up a new one.
It’s affordable
You don’t need to choose between style and wallet with hybrid flooring. Hybrid flooring is more affordable than timber. Plus, the ease of their installation helps to reduce the overall expenses as you save on labour costs.
